My Retirement Story Part 3

On the 11th of September, our campus had Merdeka Day celebration at Aminuddin Baki Hall. The event was organised by our department, i.e Department of Human Sciences. Normally, after an event at the hall, the organiser will treat everyone with lunch depending on the budget. Since most lecturers, staffs and guests will be present, I voiced out my intention to treat lunch for everyone to my head of department. Alhamdullillah it was agreed by the committee. I was so grateful that my dear friend, Noriza, knew a caterer from Rawang that could serve good & delicious food at reasonable price. We ordered food for 150 pax.

So, after the event in the hall ended, lecturers and staffs were invited to have lunch at level 5, where lunch was served. I was so glad that many turned up for lunch so that the food wouldn't go to waste.

Many commented that the menu served was to their liking and they had a good time eating.

During lunch, my colleagues showed my pre retirement video to everyone present. Dr Shapiza surprised me with a bouquet of beautiful red roses. Then we took some pictures to commemorate the occasion.

Actually I did not expect my colleagues to organise a mini pre retirement celebration for me because my intention was just to treat my colleagues. It was just my way of showing my appreciation towards their friendship. It surprised me a lot that they had series of celebration for me to reminisce after my retirement.

Deep inside me, I felt I was so lucky to have the best of friends and colleagues around me throughout these years of my teaching career.
